Vision Quilt Banners Bring Peace to Oakland's International Boulevard
In June 2021, we installed over one hundred Banners for Peace along International Boulevard in East Oakland. These five-foot street pole banners feature Vision Quilt art created by youth, artists, gun violence survivors, and other community members.
Running along International for 1.6 miles from 73rd to 102nd Avenue, the banners serve to beautify East Oakland and uplift the voices of community members impacted by gun violence.
The Banners for Peace are part of the Peace in the Streets Neighborhood Beautification Project.
